Visible Energy provides customer-friendly monitoring services that reduce energy usage and costs. This information will enable customers to connect via an Internet community to compare personal energy use across the entire electrical grid. Incorporated in July 2007, Visible Energy is dedicated to making the world’s energy use visible in a way that empowers homeowners, schools, and businesses to change their habits — and to save money, reduce their carbon 
footprint, and increase energy security. VE was founded by a group of scientists and engineers from Northern Arizona University:
- Paul Flikkema is Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering. His research interests include cross-layer approaches to ad-hoc networking with application to environmental and ecological sensing problems.
- Bruce Hungate is Director of the Western Regional Center of the Department of Energy’s National Institute for Climate Change Research, and Professor of Ecosystem Science.
- George Koch is Professor of Ecology and Plant Physiology and Associate Director of the Department of Energy’s National Institute for Climate Change Research.
